The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild: Essential guides

While the vast majority of the community is on Animal Crossing New Horizons and Doom Eternal, some of you may have preferred to choose a completely different destination. Available since the launch of the Nintendo Switch, Zelda Breath of the Wild is an inter-planetary sucess. Nintendo has simply allowed itself to reshape the basics of open-world with a gigantic map and (almost) unfussy content promoting exploration. There are a lot of things to see and do, that's why today we offer you a small summary of our essential guides for a "cool" exploration of Hyrule if you take advantage of confinement to get started.

Sets, cooking, horses: We review the basics

One of Zelda Botw's great strengths is that it never forces your hand or floods you with tons of tutorials either. That means you're going to have to fend for yourself and experiment over and over again in order to take advantage of all that the game has to offer. Below, we come back to some basic guides that will help you better understand Hyrule and its mysteries.

  • Tips, good start: The basis, the traditional beginner's guide that will allow you to see more clearly in the first hours. If you are already used to open world adventure games, you can zap it without hesitation.
  • Cooking, recipes: Eating is important! This brings buffs of temporary stats and extra hearts in abundance in exchange for the right ingredients.
  • Horses, mounts: When you have finished training in rodeos on deer in the plain, remember to take a little time to dig a hole in it. Lovers of equestrian prowess, don't forget that our Red Dead Redemption 2 portal also hosts a good big guide on our horse friends.
  • Clothing sets: So this is serious! Zelda Botw contains a fairly large number of sets, and each of them gives access to very useful statistics and permanent buffs . Almost everything can be improved with fairies and DLC add a layer with their own equipment to find on the map.

Walkthrough of the shrines

With DLCs, more than 150 secret rooms are to be found: some are really not easy to find, or are only revealed through side quests. However, this is the main way to permanently improve your heart and stamina gauges. Ultimately, you will win the original outfit of Link, the famous tunic of the moors. This is a "guideline" activity, you will spend a little time in these Sheikah ruins, but their puzzles are so cool that it is a pleasure from start to finish.

Memories, unlock the real end

If you rush to see Ganon direct after completing the 4 beasts, you will miss some additional story elements, and of importance. To have the real end of the game, we will have to roam in Hyrule in search of memories of Link. Thanks to them, you will restore his memory, and finally discover what happened 1000 years ago. More generally, not unlocking memories is also depriving yourself of 90% of the game's cutscenes.

Walkthrough: Locations of Memories

We give you the position of all Link memories in Zelda Breath of the Wild, spread out in Hyrule thanks to numerous images and some indications to hide them better.
