Introduced in World of Warcraft's Wrath of the Lich King Classic expansion in Phase 1 , the Great Black War Mammoth is a mount that rewards players who have had a significant chance of defeating raid bosses. on the Vault of Archavon. How to get the Great Black War Mammoth in WotLK Classic?
The Great Black War Mammoth is one of the first multi-seat mounts in World of Warcraft. However, unlike the Traveling Tundra Mammoth, it has neither a repairman on its back nor a salesman. Instead, the two extra slots are completely empty and allow any player in their owner's party or raid to ride with them on this rare mount. It is also one of only three mounts in Wrath of the Lich King that can carry three players from its holder's party or raid at the same time on its back.
To obtain this mammoth, you must defeat one of the four bosses in the Vault of Archavon in one of the two modes in which this raid is available:
- 10 Player Normal Mode

Of course, to be able to access these bosses it is necessary that your faction controls the Wintergrasp otherwise the fortress and the raid are not accessible. Moreover, and this is a not insignificant point, the Vault of Archavon is originally composed of only one and only one boss. As the subsequent phases of Wrath of the Lich King Classic are deployed, others will be added to ultimately find 4 to take up residence in this vault:
- Stage 1: Archavon the Stonekeeper
- Stage 2: Emalon the Storm Watcher
- Stage 3: Koralon the Flame Watcher

Each of these four bosses has a tiny chance, estimated at just 1%, of rewarding players who defeat them with this formidable Great Black War Mammoth. All four can be killed weekly and in each of the two available modes, but you'll have to wait until each phase rolls out for each one to be added to this raid, making this mount one of the rarest in WoW Classic. during the early stages of expansion.
No achievement is required to obtain this very rare mount. Just kill one of the four aforementioned bosses and keep your fingers crossed. But beware: like other mounts of the same type, only one per group can be obtained for each victory against Archavon, Emalon, Koralon and Toravon. So you will probably have to negotiate or fight against your own playmates to get it!
