Right after unveiling the official game Box Art, Square Enix goes into a little more detail by presenting new images of Final Fantasy 7 Remake, including one that we are particularly interested in, one showing the menu of materias. Thanks to this last one, we can see the blue materia of elementary association: its effect allows to insufflate the element of the green materia which is connected to it. For example, if Cloud puts an ice materia right next to the blue one, its attacks will contain frost effects and conversely will reinforce its resistance to ice if all this is linked to its armor. exactly like in the 1997 title in the end.
The AP system is also included, which will allow you to increase the power of your equipment as you fight. In this new interface, one notices that Elemental materias will be able to rise 3 levels, until absorbing completely the damages of ice if associated with the armor, but for that you will surely have to spend several hours with this materia equipped. To finish this quick tour of the information from this image, we can also see that the summoning is separated from the rest of the equipment, even if it seems possible to link something to it.
Get some new Materia with Chadley
It's not yet known if the remake will contain old-fashioned shops and if it will be possible to get new magic and skills, simply against Gils from lambda merchants. However, Square Enix has integrated Chadley, a new character and trainee of Professor Hojo, who is able to develop new materia for the group.
