Sector 8
The work done on Sector 8 seems to live up to the legend. Famous sector of the title, the mention 'Loveless', making several appearances in the game and more particularly in Crisis Core, will speak to the fans of the Final Fantasy 7 collection. The sector is also the meeting place between Cloud and Aerith at the very beginning of the adventure. In any case, the lighting effects in the streets of Midgar still seem impressive.
Shinra Tower
The Shinra HQ lobby was highlighted with a very detailed artwork, followed by a majestic in-game image with a charismatic Cloud in the foreground. The location is very important as encounters take place during its exploration. They are accompanied by a brief description setting the scene for newcomers.
"Shinra Power Company has taken over the world after experiencing rapid growth due to the Mako power harvest."
As the developers said, the tower will have fewer floors than in the 1997 version, but they will be much larger and offer more exploration.
Midgar Sector 1: Station
The station in Sector 1 is nothing like it used to be. This part of the beginning of the adventure seems to be like this remake; vast and very detailed. Let's hope that the promises to exploit and discover more details about Jessie, Wedge and Biggs will be kept and start as early as possible in the exploration.
"Midgar is divided into two parts, the slums and the plates that line up above accessible by train. The station is also fairly well guarded, as Cloud can attest...!"
The Mako Reactor
The reactors are the basis of the fight of the eco-terrorist group AVALANCHE. The Shinra exploits far too much of the planet's energy, the Mako, is "killing" the planet little by little. These reactors are the main target of AVALANCHE. This energy holds many secrets and is at the center of the plot of Final Fantasy VII.
"The Mako energy of the planet is extracted by the Mako reactor (in the background) and used to power the city of Midgar. Next to it, you get a better look at the reactor in the game."
The Slums of Sector 7 and the 7th Heaven
Midgar Sector 7 is the headquarters of the AVALANCHE Group. This sector is all the more important as the 7th Heaven, the bar managed by Tifa, is located there. The building seems to be reworked to extend more in width contrary to its former version which was higher.
"The slums of Sector 7 are home to the 7th Heaven bar and restaurant, which serves both as a secret base for Avalanche and as a refuge between missions for the heroes of FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE."
The church of Sector 5 - The church of Aerith
Aerith spends most of her time in this church in the middle of Sector 5 in Midgar. The young woman grows flowers in the middle of its ruins. It is also the place where she really discovered Cloud after a brief encounter during one of the missions in AVALANCHE.
Aerith's house - Sector 6
Simply an exceptional and unique place in the hell of Midgar, the House of Aerith is a little piece of paradise. Its flower garden and secluded corner make Aerith's House peaceful, a real break from the hustle and bustle of the city. This is also where Cloud meets Aerith's mother.
Train Graveyard - Sector 7
The Train Graveyard was once used as a depot during the construction of Midgar. It's now abandoned and strange events are taking place there. Some people even claim it's haunted. This place bears witness to the influence of the Shinra on the whole city.
"Once it was a railway depot during the construction of Midgar. Abandoned since then, high winds now squeak the carcasses of the old railcars."
Inside the Mako Reactors
The Mako Reactors are the heart of the Shinra business and of course the main concern of AVALANCHE. These huge machines pump the energy of the planet, the Mako, directly from the planet, transforming it into electricity and gas. This energy is also used for the making of Materias and other more obscure research.
Service tunnels
The Midgar city subway tunnels are also owned and controlled by the Shinra and are infected with pests. The Mako Energy Company uses the subway to control the comings and goings of residents by requiring the presentation of each user's identity card.
