Ninantic announced that Trainers in Pokémon GO will now be able to see which Pokémon they could hatch from eggs in their inventory.
They are currently testing the new feature with a select number of users before a wider rollout.
Clicking on the egg in your inventory will show a list of the hatching possibilities—of course, that list will differ between types of eggs and the events which are running.
The likeliness of getting a specific Pokémon will be indicated by its position in one of the five rarities—with Level 5 appearing to be the rarest, while Level 1 appears to be the most common.
Fans have heavily criticised Ninantic for the system not being transparent, with many likening the lootbox-style eggs to gambling. The publisher has pushed this feature with no explanation of on the odds behind each tier.
Hatching the eggs does indeed have the same familiarity as the typical lootbox and key mechanism—you can acquire eggs for free through gameplay, and then walk a specific distance to hatch them. You can only hatch one egg at a time, or bypass this by purchasing up to nine extra incubators, which also slightly lessens the walking distance.
It does seem that Ninantic has taken fans' criticism on board and is looking in to improving the game in response.
