The Pokémon Trading Card Game has been around since 1996, and it hasn’t stopped growing since then. More than 80 expansions were released and there are new cards even to this day. This probably has to do, to a certain degree, with the launch of the video game version of Pokémon TCG back in 2011, which is currently very popular among newcomers, long-time fans and streamers.
What’s new in Pokémon TCG has to do with a collaboration with Pokémon GO. Professor Willow, the guide of both new Trainers and experienced ones, is getting a card of his own. It will be a supporter, a type of card that can only be played once per turn, and its effect will allow the user to discard their hand and draw seven new from the pile.
However, it doesn’t end there. The Professor Willow card will be unique from other supporter cards or even the other types. This is because it will feature a special promotional code that isn’t printed on regular cards. With this code, Trainers will be able to complete a Special Research in Pokémon GO, which focuses on the Mythical Pokémon Meltan and some items that haven’t been revealed yet.
If you want to acquire this card, it will be available in locations where Pokémon TCG is usually sold, so check out your local store when the time comes. Speaking of time, there is no specific release date announced yet. Pokémon GO’s official website only says that it will be available next month, but nothing else.
Be sure to check the official Pokémon Trading Card Game site the following days, because there might be changes with the Professor Willow card in the future.
