On the occasion of the deployment of the PrePatch of the Wrath of the Lich King Classic extension of World of Warcraft, Blizzard offers all its players to obtain a new mount, to say the least remarkable for the modern version of the game (Shadowlands, Dragonflight) by embodying the "new" class introduced in Classic: the Death Knight.
- Important: The Frostbrood Proto-wyrm is only available on the Modern (Retail) version of the game. Classic players do not have access to it.
How do I get the Frostbrood Proto-wyrm?
If the mount available through the Deluxe Edition of the Frozen Lands Pass may have disappointed some with its rather sober and minimalist look, Blizzard has not said its last word. It is through a surprising offer that the publisher offers its players to obtain the sumptuous Proto-wyrm frostbrood in exchange for a short stay on the Classic version of its MMORPG. And by "short", we mean a very short stay since you will need in the worst case less than 2 hours to get it!
To get it, you simply need to log into Wrath of the Lich King Classic (subscribing to the modern version of the game allows you to access it at no additional cost) and complete the Death Knight intro quests there. . Although in the past it was necessary to have a level 55 character on the server where you wanted to create a character embodying this class, in WotLK Classic this restriction has been lifted! You can therefore connect to it, create a level 55 Death Knight and do your little introductory scenario to obtain your Frostbrood Proto-wyrm without needing anything beforehand!
Small precision all the same: the scenario of introduction of the knights of death of WotLK Classic ends when you arrive in the main capital of your faction (Stormwind or Orgrimmar) and that you return there the quest allowing you to join the rows of this one:
- Where the King Walks for Alliance Players
- Warchief's Blessing for Horde Players
A unique mount for WotLK Classic... and Dragonflight!
This splendid and terrible creature serves as an obvious homage to the frozen continent of Northrend and to the drakes reanimated by the Lich King who then became a "brood" in their own right: the frostbrood, these famous skeletal drakes. Taking on the appearance of a proto-drake, it also pays homage to the fact that this expansion was the first to introduce these dragon ancestors into play. However, it also deliberately echoes the next expansion, scheduled for the end of 2022, on the theme of the Dragonflights of Azeroth: Dragonflight!
