If you're not familiar with Ultimate Team, we invite you to consult our various FIFA 20 guides before embarking on its competitive section, better known as FUT Champions. For others who would like to try to participate in the official Global Series competitive circuit and would like to maximize their chances of qualifying, or simply take advantage of the challenge offered by this game mode, we explain everything there is to know here.
What is FUT Champions?
Three years ago, EA Sports launched its first online competitive mode on FIFA Ultimate Team, FUT Champions. The principle is very simple, every weekend, subject to qualification, you will have 30 games to play (this was originally 40) and you will be ranked according to your results in terms of the number of wins and losses at the end of the weekend. This rank will determine your rewards. The regional ranking is composed of 5 major ranks: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Elite and Top 100.
Since last year, knockout tournaments and online divisions have given way to Division Rivals. Play this game mode during the week to accumulate FUT Champions points that you can exchange for an entry token to the weekend league of your choice.
The two modes work together, since playing a match in FUT Champions will award you 400 weekly score points in Division Rivals, win or lose.
The key to the war
Players familiar with the mode will know that the term "war" is not an exaggeration since when you embark on a weekend FUT Champions, you must be fully prepared mentally not to fail. While money remains a major asset, since it allows you to build a strong and competitive team, your mind is your best chance to maximize your results in order to get the biggest rewards.
You will have to draw on all your resources to keep cool in the face of the situations you will face right up to the thirtieth game. You must understand that it will not only be your talent that will make the difference but also your mental strength. Develop and exercise your mind so you can turn even the most complicated situations around, even when you have the impression that all the elements are against you.
It's a long season
FUT Champions is not an ephemeral competition - it takes place all year round. In fact, you will have the opportunity to gradually improve yourself and your team, which will gradually consolidate. So don't be alarmed if for your first weekend your results are not up to your expectations.
Take advantage of the first few weeks to determine what your favourite formation is and who your key players will be in your squad. We also advise you to create two teams so that you do not have to buy formation consumables every other match. Also consider adjusting your dynamic tactics to really establish your style of play. You will see your results gradually improve as you evolve your team and style of play every weekend.
Also try to take a step back to determine your strengths and weaknesses when facing opponents who will make your life difficult. In FUT Champions, everything is importrant, and you will have to carefully analyse every aspect of your team and play to achieve your goals. The Champions Channel will allow you to learn from the best players, for example.
The rewards, the fruit of your labour
Most people play FUT Champions due to the rewards at stake. Indeed, after each weekend league in which you have participated, you will obtain coins and packs according to the rank you have reached. All these winnings will be the result of your work, and since the arrival of FUT Champions, it is no longer necessary to spend a fortune in FUT 20 to be able to play with the best cards. Certainly, it is necessary to be hard-working and have some FIFA skill, but at least players are given a chance to fill their club without reaching for their wallets.
Finally, here are the rewards for each rank. Rewards are delivered on Wednesday night from 11:00 pm, at the same time as those for Division Rivals.
