After a financial briefing regarding this fiscal year, Square Enix held a Q&A with various media outlets. One of the questions was directly linked with Final Fantasy VII Remake, as Yosuke Matsuda, Square Enix president and representative director explained what the company had planned regarding next-generation consoles and future game releases.
"The next-generation consoles will have backward compatibility, so we plan for the time being to make our new titles available for both current and next-generation consoles." explained the president. "It will therefore be somewhat farther down the road that we release titles exclusively for the next-generation consoles."
With a release planned for April 10, 2020, players can be reassured that the game will be playable on both current and next-gen consoles!
To celebrate the birthday FF7 Remake protagonist Aerith Gainsborough, Square Enix have posted a tribute to the doomed heroine on social media. They also took the opportunity to release a new image of our team of heroes together.
