Highly anticipated by a whole generation of old-school RPG enthusiasts, Baldur's Gate III was shown off a little more at PAX East 2020.
Here are some screenshots with a quick analysis of their content.
Baldur's Gate III: Battles
Battles will be turn-based, which has its advantages and disadvantages. They allow for more strategic and deep gameplay, while avoiding drowning the player in the middle-of-the-enemy techniques that push force regular pauses.
On the other hand, it will seriously slow down the pace of the game. You'll be able to use the 3D environments during battles, such as positioning an archer or mage on high ground. Mechanics such as stealth can also be exploited to gain tactical advantage.
Dangerous traps and mechanisms will obviously be there to spice things up.
Baldur's Gate III: Dialogue
The game adopts a first-person, close-up view of the speaker in dialogue, with many possible response options — some of which are related to specific skills and races. They also offer the possibility to act, for example, by drawing your weapon.
Baldur's Gate III: Settings and environments
The game is quite pretty, with places that are nice to look at, both graphically and design-wise.
