Pokemon GO: Shiny Groudon now available!

Groudon returns to Raid Battles in Pokemon GO, just after long-time rival Kyogre.

This is the perfect opportunity to add it to your Pokedex if you haven't already — especially in its rare green Shiny Form!

His time as a Raid Boss will last until July 10, so you don't have much time!

Groudon

Groudon is said to be the personification of the land itself. Legends tell of its many clashes against Kyogre, as each sought to gain the power of nature.

Keep battling and you could just find this rare Shiny Form!

How do I beat Groudon?

If you want to stand a chance of taking down Groudon, you'll surely need help from your friends. He has a colossal 49,671 CP, and with the weather being so nice right now, he'll likely be boosted even more!

As a Ground-type Pokémon, he is resistant to Poison, Rock and Electric types, so you probably want to avoid having those types in your team.

However, that means he is weak to Grass, Water and Ice types, so load up your team and enjoy 160% damage dealt! Good examples are:

  • Gyarados, Feraligatr and Vaporeon for Water
  • Venusaur, Exeggcutor, Sceptile and Roserade for Grass
  • Articuno and Lapras for Ice
  • Dragonite as a generalist to resist Solar Beam Groudon
  • Ho-Oh, Lugia or even another Groudon if they know Solar Beam.

Gyarados with Waterfall + Hydro Pump is especially strong!

Good luck, trainers! ^_^
