You will have to climb mountains and make good use of the grappling hook to be able to pray and honor shrines in Ghost of Tsushima. The reward is worth it, as you'll get a powerful major charm and wax wood to upgrade your bows. Here is the list and locations of the Shinto shrines.

Ghost of Tsushima: Shinto shrines locations

In Ghost of Tsushima, you'll go mountain climbing to reach the various Shinto Shrines scattered throughout each act. This is especially important at the beginning of the first act since you don't yet have any major charm.

Shinto shrines

There are a total of 16 Shinto Shrines, each unlocking a specific major charm with powerful power. Note that hey can't be equipped in the minor charm emplacement unlocked in the Inari Shrines.

Climbing itself is not particularly difficult, even though a mistake can easily cost you your life. Don't worry, if you fall, you'll come back to life on the previous platform.

We suggest that you make a few detours to pick up the materials on the way, especially flowers. Flowers are pretty rare and you'll never have to much of them.

Shinto Shrines are easy to spot, even from a distance. They are usually isolated mountains with a tree on top. A large part of the Shrines are located by the sea, at the top of the cliffs. You can find them by following the coast.

The majority of the Shinto Sanctuaries in Act 1 can be reached immediately, but 2 of them (which we will indicate on the map) require the Taka Grappling Hook to be unlocked. Same is true for all those in Acts 2 and 3.

Don't forget to pick up the wax wood at the top after unlocking the charm. There's often a shrub or flowers hidden behind the altar.
