It's unexpected, to say the least. Sony and Sucker Punch just announced a new mode for Ghost of Tsushima. Named Ghost of Tsushima: Legends, this free mode is a completely new experience, which means you won't be able to play or see Jin Sakai and his friends.
Instead, it focuses on four legendary warriors well-known among the people of Tsushima, and will take place in a "haunting and fantastical world, with locations and enemies inspired by Japanese folk tales and mythology", according to Sucker Punch's Senior Game Designer, Darren Bridges.
This free mode will allow you to play story missions with up to two players and wave-based missions with up to four players, via online matchmaking or with friends.
You'll be able to chose between four different characters with their own abilities: the Samurai, Hunter, Ronin, or Assassin.
Sucker Punch will certainly have a lot more to share regarding Ghost of Tsushima: Legends in the future. For now, we know that the new mode will be available for free in Fall 2020, as long as you already have the game in your library along an Internet connection and an active PS Plus membership.
