League of Legends: Wild Rift shares a lot of what makes its parent game so successful as a competitive title, including a ranked mode.
However, Riot Games weren't satisfied with simply replicating the PC experience, instead taking creative liberties in all aspects of the game. Ranked play is no exception here.
What do you need to be able to play Ranked in Wild Rift?
First of all, there is a requirement to be able to play Ranked in Wild Rift.
Any summoner who wants to jump to the competitive queue will have to raise their account to Level 10 first. In principle, it will not be necessary to have a minimum number of champions like the PC version, at least that has been communicated. This could be because when we reach the point where we can already play ranked, the game will have provided us with enough champions to use.
We still don't know what it will take to climb the first ten levels, but everything points towards much more relaxed requirements than those that exist in League of Legends for PC, where players have to reach Level 30 and own 20 champions.
What are the differences between Ranked in Wild Rift and League of Legends?
Some Wild Rift features will remain the same as League of Legends. However, many others will see modifications. One of the changes that will affect players most will be, without a doubt, that which affects the way we move up the divisions.
Although all divisions maintain their four subdivisions from the PC version, League Points (LP) disappear until we get to Diamond. The game will be based on a win/loss counter, based on the league we are in.
Instead, the game will operate on a win/loss ratio. To gain a rank in Silver, for example, simply win three matches in a row.
However, there is a new variable that will allow us to avoid defeat: Rank Fortitude. This is a meter that fills as we play, and which will prevent a loss from affecting your streak when full.
Wild Rift will also launch without a Draft mode, meaning there is an absence of bans. This is due to the champion pool being limited, but it's something to be expected later as the game grows.
The existing ranks in the game are: Iron, Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Emerald, Diamond, Master, Grand Master and Challenger.
Can we play ranked with friends?
Riot has confirmed that we will be able to search for Ranked games alone or in pre-built groups of two, three or five players. However, there will be no division between Solo/Duo and Flex queues.
This decision will not affect players too much. The game will match players based on the size of the premade group.
If we play alone and they mix us with premades, there will be parity. This measure has already been established in League of Legends for PC.
For example, a team of 1-1-1-1-1 composition plays against 1-1-1-1-1, while 2-2-1 will be faced with 2-2-1 and 3-2 against 3-2.
Although the upcoming release of Wild Rift has been celebrated by many of the more traditional League of Legends players, there is one aspect that is starting to annoy the community — differences in the artistic design of skins.
