Naughty Dog is going through a difficult time as there are only a few weeks left before the official release of the second opus of Joel and Ellie's adventures, scheduled for June 19. All the teams that worked on the development of The Last of Us 2 have been in turmoil since many leaks appeared on social networks — spoiling the main plot and potentially ruining the gaming experience of players.
Don't worry! Neil Druckmann said that the final product would go much deeper than what the leaks suggest. To continue promoting the game, a brand new trailer has just been unveiled. It could be the last one before the release of the game. This 2-minute video allows us to learn a little more about the story of this sequel.
We understand quite easily that humans are now the real enemies of our two protagonists. A significant number of NPCs are more or less introduced to us, suggesting that the infected are now only in the background of the plot. This would fit perfectly with the theme of revenge, embodied by Ellie herself.
The big question on everyone's mind is: does she finally know the truth about the Fireflies? A conversation with Joel seems to confirm it. Several characters even warn her about this quest described as "suicidal" since nothing seems to be able to slow her down anymore — not even death. Joel reminds her that "everything has a price" but there's no doubt those words won't be enough to stop Ellie in her murderous madness.
It's on June 19 that we'll finally have answers to all our questions!
