Almost four weeks after its global launch, Fall Guys still has an amazing viewership on Twitch. The first Twitch Rivals event devoted to the en vogue party game took place on Friday evening, and the number of simultaneous spectators happily crossed 700,000. Fall Guys outclassed CS:GO, League of Legends and Fortnite, the three heavyweights of the streaming platform, which gathered barely 200,000 viewers over the period.
Slasher's comment about Fall Guys being "the world's #1 esport" may not be ironic for very long.
The organisers only invited streamers based in North America, in an online format that's still in its infancy. Certainly, many big names in the NA stream game were there (such as Tyler1, DrLupo, and NICKMERCS), but their presence alone is far from explaining the colossal viewing figures.
The origins of many viewers here went far beyond American borders. Because it has to be said: Fall Guys is incredibly entertaining to watch, both to admire the tricks used by the best players and to laugh at the misfortune of others.
Even without knowing the competitors, the show was worth it. And even if at the time of writing esports orgs are still cautious about following Panda Global in picking up players or a roster for the game, the phenomenon of competitive Fall Guys is there.
