Notable Call of Duty leaker Tom Henderson made a Twitter thread announcing that both Treyarch and Activision were well aware of SBMM and the opinion of the community.
The topic of SBMM has been debated since the beta of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, and has slowly come to fruition on Call of Duty: Warzone.
There has yet to be official confirmation from Treyarch or Activision but the fact leakers are reporting that they are aware of the problem is certainly a step in the right direction.
Many content creators have resorted to reverse boosting in order to get placed into easier matches.
The process involves players killing themselves repeatedly to impact their kill-to-death ratio. Once their K/D ratio is low enough, they will be placed in games against players that are less skilled, enabling them to score those clips that are worthy of the highlight reels.
Whether it's DrDisrespect or Nadeshot, the entire community seems to be fed up with SBMM and is asking for a change.
Whether Treyarch or Activision decide to act upon the widespread backlash remains to be seen.
The simple solution is to implement a fully-fledged competitive playlist where SBMM is turned on, leaving the casual game modes to be played with the matchmaking turned off, enabling players of mixed abilities to enjoy the game however they choose.
