Last June 15, Mike Donais, one of Hearthstone's game designers, appeared on the stream of his daughter while she was playing Hearthstone. He took the opportunity to answer some questions from the chat related to the game and future changes that might be. You will find below a list summarizing the information given during this stream (find all clips containing each answer here)
Future of the game
- New classic cards should appear soon (under two weeks) to replace cards that will join the Hall of Fame.
- The trailer of the next extension is by far his favorite one because it's related to "one of its favorite release", League of Explorers.
- The next set will include a card which will allow to easily create a 45/45 Pogo-Hopper
- They want to avoid Hero Cards for now, but it's not excluded that one of them is released.
- Cards using the mechanic taking effect when there is no duplicate of a card in the remaining deck (such as Reno or Raza) for other classes than Mage, Priest or Warlock could be implemented.
- We should see an upgrade of the deck copying and sharing system.
- They are satisfied with The Boomsday Project's buffs but would like to try other things than buffs and nerfs next time (without explaining what they exactly want to do)
- They keep an eye on the Big Priest in Wild but haven't planned any change for now.
Solo Mode
- A new nerf of the bow Haro Setting-Sun will come within the week.
- A nerf of the heroïc version of Kara Stanper by removing her Curse!
- We could see one of the heroes from Dalaran Heist becoming a hero skin.
- They are keeping track of bosses' winrates to modify them if needed.
- They tested an "Infinite" mode for Dalaran Heist but finally gave up the idea
- Mike Donais thinks it would be cool to be able to play golden cards within adventures.
- The next expansion will bring an adventure with different gameplay.
Fun stuff & other
- Mike Donais likes the idea of a "random hero skin" option working in the same way as card backs work.
- The animations of some legendary cards from the classic set are going to be modified.
- They work on more cosmetics elements and are open to suggestions.
- His favorites expansions are Journey to Un'Goro and The Explorers League.
- The story of Rafaam is going to continue through this year expansions but not only his.
- According to him, Ben Brode was a professional rock-paper-scissor player when he arrived!
