Hearthstone — New Tavern Brawl Mode: A Less Friendly Game of Chess

Fellow Hearthstone's players and other lovers of the Karazhan adventure, this week Tavern Brawl is made for you. However, this time things might be a little bit different...

Hearthstone — New Tavern Brawl Mode: A Less Friendly Game of Chess

This week in Hearthstone you'll be able to play an ancient Tavern Brawl Mode with twisted rules. If you played the Karazhan adventure, then you'll probably remember the chess-like game that you needed to accomplish to defeat the boss. Well, it's the same with this Tavern Brawl — except this time you've been allowed to cheat.

Among other chess cards — Pawns, Knights, Bishops, Queens, and Kings — you'll have the possibility to add six cards from any set to your deck.

In a similar way than chess, you will embody either blacks or whites. Even though you need to pick a class when building your deck, it won't affect the class that is shown — meaning your opponent cannot guess which class you're playing until you use one of these six cards.

We can imagine three different strategies to play this Tavern Brawl:

  • Use some buffs cards in order to protect chess pieces and build a huge army (that's the one we used in previous and following screenshots.)
  • Play some AoE spells to get rid off your opponent's pieces
  • Set up a 20 damage combo — since heroes have 20 HP in this game mode

As usual, you'll earn a Classic Card Pack with your first victory.
