Some World Championship players spoke about the cards they want to see nerfed soon. If the devs Dean Ayala and Ben Thompson stated that they would be ready to make the corresponding decisions, it won't be in the upcoming hours. Nevertheless, here is how and why some cards were mentioned.
Dr. Boom, Mad Genius
Created in the Boomsday Project, the Warrior hero has more and more impact in the meta since the Death Knights of Knights of the Frozen Throne expansion left with the rotation. He has lost his place now that the Bombs/Control Warrior is one of the meta leaders. His passive giving the Mechs the ability to rush the opponent's board, in addition to the new Mechs (like Omega Devastator), can turn out to be unbalanced. If we add the value that the "free" discover of Mechs can offer and other heroic powers of the board, we get a card that all of the other classes envy. Though powerful, Hagatha and Zul'Jin can hardly compete in terms of value. And to finish, the Warrior duels consist of picking or not this Dr. Boom, like in the time of Frost Lich Jaina or Bloodreaver Gul'dan.
The solution could be to remove the Mechs Rush ability when Dr. Boom is well equipped. It could very well be replaced by something else.
Rogue cards
Adopted by several players for some changes (as Bunnyhoppor and Hunterace), some Rogue cards are targeted by pro players. Leading the way: Edwin Van Cleef, EVIL Miscreant, and Preparation.
- Raiding Party is currently too powerful and could need a Preparation nerf to be more balanced (from 3 to 2).
- In the same idea, Edwin Van Cleef is also linked to the power of Preparation + Raiding Party and is often over-performing. Bunnyhoppor could very well see it join the Pantheon.
- Hunterace thinks that EVIL Miscreant is too cheap in terms of mana. He would like to see costing up to 4 to be more balanced.
Other cards
- Flying Carpet: Bonnyhoppor thinks that the card could become too powerful if Rogue was nerfed (see above).
- Waggle Pick: its interaction with Leeroy Jenkins is sometimes too powerful, and precisely without interaction with the other player.
