There are many enemies to face in Valheim. Fearsome golems await you in the Mountains biome. Here is a walkthrough with tips and advice to help you get rid of them.

Valheim Guide: Stone Golem — everything you need to know

It wouldn't be fun if things got easier in Valheim. After you have mined your Iron quota in the Sunken Crypts and killed the third boss, you will encounter the Stone Golems in the Mountains. You can also meet them earlier if you are the adventurous type, but in this case your successive suffering and death will likely be in vain.

Stone Golems

By default, Stone Golems sleep and then they just look like a snowy pile of stones. But they get up when an intruder approaches. One of the peculiarities of golems is that they are hostile to all life forms, this includes other residents of its own biome: Wolves, Drakes, and Fenrings. It is very easy to use the golem or the monsters as a distraction for the other side, as well as an opportunity to squeeze in some attacks. The golem will smash any other monster in the area with little or no damage, it has a hard time hitting the Drakes, but if they lower their altitude, a hasty end awaits them.

Being much lower than the golem prevents it from attacking you. Its lack of manoeuvrability also helps. - Valheim

Escaping the Stone Golems is pretty straightforward since they are slow and easy to distract, but killing them is another story. They are very resistant to almost all types of damage, they have a lot of health, and they really hurt. It is advisable to have a high level wolf armor set and food in order to avoid getting killed in one or two hits.

Stone Golems spawn in two types: Boulder Arms and Spike Arms.

You can try to block attacks if you have a great shield, but you can also dodge and go behind their backs to attack them. The only weapon that is really effective against golems is the Iron Pickaxe. This is quite logical since they are literally rocks. The problem is obviously that these are two-handed weapons, which greatly blows you up with an unblockable counterattack.

If you're not confident in your ability to deal with these melee juggernauts, you can use the other monsters to distract the golem while you shoot arrows at it. They don't hurt very much, but it's much less risky.

Crystals

After defeating a Stone Golem, they will drop Crystals. These are unfortunately not in use at the moment (as of February 16, 2021). This will definitely come in a future patch. This means that you don't need to face the Stone Golems right now if you don't have any money to mine in the area, for example.
