Do you also hate laying a floor on uneven ground? Fortunately, the developers of Valheim have thought of this already — so you can craft a hoe which will solve any terraforming issues you might encounter.
Unlock the Hoe
The crafting of the hoe is not really difficult to unlock, however everything is not necessarily very clear. Concretely, you will simply have to have a workbench, but it will have to be put under a roof to offer its full potential. Rather paradoxical, since the hoe is almost essential to establish a base camp. Our advice: build a small makeshift shelter very quickly to place the workbench underneath and make the object of your desires. It's up to you to clear the land and level or elevate it, against 5 woods and 2 stones.
- Alternative: If you are more of an explorer, browse the Plains biome without worrying about all that, you will surely end up stumbling upon an abandoned house (see image above). All you have to do is put your Workbench inside and everything should go like clockwork.
Use of the Hoe
The Hoe will be used to terraform your play space thanks to a levelling of the ground and a clearing of all the vegetation in the surroundings. A third mode also allows you to raise it, but this is not free: each modification of this type will cost you 4 stones and can only be done within the perimeter established by the installation of the latter.
To note
- Like most tools, the hoe can be repaired directly and free of charge at your workbench, as long as it is under a roof.
- Like the construction hammer, the hoe cannot serve as a makeshift weapon, so remember it if you find yourself in a tense situation.
- The pickaxe that you can make after defeating the boss Eikthyr will also be a good way to terraform the terrain, the latter is capable of digging large trenches.
