Hearthstone, A Storm is Coming: leaks of the next expansion

The Year of the Dragon is coming to an end, and a new year is on the horizon in Hearthstone. Between revelations and leaks, we will know more and more about its name and how it will approach the future of the game...

Update — March 16

While the article only remained on their website for a few minutes, Polygon has published what seems to be the summary of the first expansion of the year, which would be called Ashes of Outland. This leak mentions a new class, the Demon Hunter, as well as very important changes on the Priest class (source: Out of cards). As to whether all this is true or not, there is one step we won't take.

Update — March 13

Celestalon, one member of Team 5, tweeted a mysterious message, confirming that we should expect big announcements on March 17!

Original Article

A Storm is coming on March 17 at 9 AM PST — at least that's what this image quickly removed from the Hearthstone Facebook account shows.

Why Lunara, Medivh and Morgl the Oracle are transformed in stone statues? What is this cave/crystal in front of them? A lightning bolt passes through the image, and this theme seems really important with the text above.

Could it be related to the Shrine of the Storm, one of Battle for Azeroth dungeons? Or even be linked to Northrend with the Storm Peaks? We can also think of the city of Stormwind, Illidan Stormrage or the famous Milhouse Manastorm. The tracks are numerous, and none of them seem to be suitable enough to define this image.

However, our colleagues at outof.cards seem to be on a track!

Hearthstone

According to ShadowsOfSense, who wrote the article, our teaser would be located in Outland and more specifically in Nagrand at the Throne of the Elements. Admittedly, there are a lot of elements that fit together. There are waterfalls, as in our blurred image, relatively similar stone structures, and.... green grass. On the lore level, ShadowsOfSense goes on to say that this is the place where the first Shaman Orc learned to control the power of the elements. Moreover, Illidan Stormrage is the lord of the Outland. These clues remain, like the original image, rather blurry, and have nothing to do with the stone statues that we saw in the image revealed on Facebook.

Even with all of these speculations, we still don't know what Blizzard is planning... More will be known on March 17.

Upcoming Hunter Standard rotation

The April rotation is about to hit Hearthstone! Check out which Hunter cards will leave our beloved Standard format and how it will affect the class archetypes.
