In previous instalments of Black Ops Zombies, it was much more difficult for players to uncover the steps to complete the main Easter Egg quests. In Black Ops Cold War, Easter Eggs within Die Maschine and Firebase Z are straightforward to complete.
Why did the Treyarch team decide to make the challenges so much easier than before? In an interview for IGN India , Corky Lehmkuhl, Creative Director of Treyarch, provided some details.
Corky Lehmkuhl says although Easter Eggs are much simpler than before, she also says that they "are not as crazy as before", adding that making the Easter Eggs easy to complete isn't due to a lack of development time. Rather than just a handful of players completing the quest, Treyarch wants everyone to complete them.
According to Treyarch's internal statistics, less than 2% of players were solving the Easter Eggs due to their complex nature. It was far easier watching a video walkthrough and following the steps rather than players discovering them for themselves
For Outbreak, the main Easter Egg has yet to be revealed, but it is already possible to find elements of lore by searching all over the three zones.
A notable leaker has revealed that a Call of Duty game dedicated to Zombies is in the works.
