Elden Ring: FromSofware already working on a new game in collaboration with an author?

After the mythical Elden Ring which, more than a month after its release, still dominates the charts around the world, it seems that FromSoftware is already on a new project. The company's attention would be on a famous writer. It would not be a first for the brand, which worked in collaboration with George RR Martin for the writing of the scenario of their last RPG. The writer is known worldwide for his work "The Iron Throne", then adapted into a series, which we (almost) all know.

In Elden Ring, the meeting between Hidetaka Miyazaki and George RR Martin worked, to the delight of fans of the writer's own fantastic universe. FromSoftware noticed this and for its next project, the company contacted Brandon Sanderson, a famous American author.

A new writer for new adventures

Brandon Sanderson, author specializing in the fantasy/fantasy genre, notably wrote L'Elantris , Fils-des-brumes and The Way of Kings . Accustomed to FromSoftware's own genre, the writer was contacted by the company thanks to a gift containing Elden Ring merch and a note inviting him to collaborate.

They want us to maybe do something together, that's what the little note says. I would like that too, actually. I actually have a pitch for them in the back of my head… so maybe I should send it to them and see what they think.

The statement comes straight to us from a livestream hosted by the writer himself, discussing his future projects. He then declared to be very interested in FromSoftware's games, in particular the Dark Souls to which he has a particular affection.

I said to myself: “What if I made a Souls one day?” Of course, it's not for me to decide, but at least I have the idea in mind. Maybe they'll hear from me one day…I have ideas.

The collaboration already underway?

Last December , the writer said he was working on a project directly related to the video game industry. He had revealed a little more in a post on his blog, called "State of Sanderson" , about his plans for the year 2022.

I've been working on a video game for several years, and I think it will be announced this year. So start speculating! (Note: this is not one of my properties, but a new product that I created with a specialist company. This is a game company that many of you have heard of talk, but probably not the one you're thinking about right now. And not the other either).

The mystery therefore remains intact , even if the writer seems quite close to FromSoftware's games and their universes. Moreover, the fact that Sanderson revealed that the company would indeed want to work with him only stirs up doubts in the community. In any case, we will have to wait for an official announcement from FromSoftware to find out more about their next video game project.
