Do not panic just yet: this trailer does not contain a new image of Hogwarts Legacy: Hogwarts Legacy. The sequences all come from the great 15-minute State of Play that we had at the start of the year. That being said, the trailer itself is indeed new and shows us how the next-gen features of the PlayStation 5 are applied to the game. To accompany this video, an official blogpost has been published by Chandler Wood, the RPG community manager. In this blog, we find some exclusive gifs that said!
Hogwarts Legacy: Casting spells with DualSense controllers!
The official post tells us that the PS5's DualSense wireless controllers will allow gamers to feel truly connected with their magic wand , fully immersing them in sights and sound. "Wand in hand, nothing is more important to Avalanche Software than making sure players feel like they're living in this world."
Literally, the controller then becomes an extension of the in-game wand. We saw it in the gameplay trailer, there is a panoply of spells to cast and the adaptive triggers precisely allow greater flexibility in combat to achieve combos. The player can even feel the magic resistance at his fingertips (by casting a spell, blocking the opponent's spell or charging his power).
The haptic feedback, on the other hand, establishes a direct connection between the controller and the wand: all the effects are concentrated on the right side of the DualSense so that the player has the feeling of really holding the wand in his right hand.
The atmosphere at Hogwarts felt directly in the controller
Of course, it's not all about the wand in Hogwarts Legacy. Exploring the magical world is an important part of the game and the DualSense controller allows players to feel the events around the world: crushing ingredients in Potions, feeling the high-pitched cry of the Mandrake or even flying on a hippogriff. The light on the controller has also been exploited: each spell cast will make the DualSense light up and throughout your adventure, it will wear the colors of your house.
Who says PS5 necessarily says 4K. The backgrounds are breathtaking and the developers at Avalanche Software have worked hard to provide top quality graphics to make exploring Hogwarts and its surroundings a real pleasure. We saw it recently in the atmosphere trailer. It is specified in the blog that the player can choose between high graphics or performance with good framerates.
Finally, in addition to great audio, the PlayStation 5's ultra-fast SSD will allow you to get fast load times no matter how you move around. The blog reconfirms a late 2022 release date.
