During the Developer Update of July 11, Overwatch Game Director Jeff Kaplan announced several new features, including the upcoming Summer Games event. He also talked about Hero 31, and the reinforcement of cheat detection.

Blizzard have just released the July Developer Update for Overwatch, and in it, they announce several features that will appear in-game very soon. A little shorter than usual, it announces the Summer Games event and answers questions that players may have about the next hero.

Change in the schedule of outings

According to the usual schedule of releases for Overwatch, Hero 31 should have at least been teased by now. However, since the release of Baptiste, we have been given no information or clues about the new hero. Kaplan explained that for this summer, the schedule of releases has been altered from the usual schedule.

Hero 31

Given that news, Kaplan confirmed that the release of Hero 31 would be delayed. We don't yet know just when that will be, as development teams are taking a little more time to create and balance the character.

Summer Games

Regarding the summer event, the first piece of information is that the event should arrive sooner than usual. Every week during the Summer Games a different challenge will take place, quite like the event created for Baptiste, and which will unlock an epic skin each time.

Improvements in quality of life and detection of cheating

The teams will continue to work on the subtitles that have recently appeared with Patch 1.38.

Kaplan also mentioned the improved detection of cheating in Overwatch. With the next update, matches will be stopped as soon as cheating is detected. According to Kaplan, sanctions for cheating will be severe. The remaining players from both teams will not be penalized, and no player will lose SR for that match.

OWL 2019: Which teams will participate in the Stage 3 Playoffs?

The Stage 3 Playoffs of the Overwatch League will take place in two weeks, so we took a look at which teams can expect to take to the stage. With most slots locked in, five teams must battle to the very end to book their places in what is sure to be a feast of action.
