Overwatch is getting Cross-Play soon

Overwatch have announced that Cross-Play will be available soon, allowing players to group together no matter what platform they are on. And everyone who logs in to Overwatch by the end of 2021 will receive a Golden Loot Box to celebrate.

Overwatch is getting Cross-Play soon

With a new Battle.net update, Overwatch are now able to offer Cross-Play. To celebrate this, all players who log on in 2021 will receive a Golden Loot Box.

This does mean that all players will be required to create a Battle.net account, regardless of whether they will be using Cross-Play or not, and have their account linked to their console account. PC Players will already have a Battle.net account, so do not need to worry about it.

Players will be prompted to link their account when they load up the game, but the instructions can be found on the Overwatch website.

Cross-Play will be available for: PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Playstation 4, Playstation 5 and Nintendo Switch.

This will allow players to team up with friends, regardless of their preferred console. However there is a caveat, Cross-Play will be disabled for Competitive queues. It is also worth noting that progression will not carry over between systems. This means content and progression will not be attributed to your Battle.net account and will therefore not carry over between platforms.
