Hearthstone's new game mode: Battlegrounds is still in beta mode but it has already seen several updates, the last one even adding four new heroes! Development teams are working hard to improve the game even further, while communication is frequent enough to keep the hype and interest, while not revealing all the information to keep enough suspense.
This time, during a HearthCasual podcast, thanks to Lead Designer Mike Donais and Associated Designer Conor Kou we were able to learn a lot about the future of the game.
Main information
- The next patch will take place on December 5th
- King Bagurgle is a 6/3 Murloc with Battlecry and Deathrattle: Your Murlocs gain +2/+2
- Another minion will be added: Floating Watcher
- Dragons will be added to Battlegrounds!
- You will soon be able to invite seven players to play a game of Battlegrounds
- The Nightmare Amalgam may be nerfed, by making it 2/2 (without impact on Hearthstone in general)
- The statistics will be added in the next patch!
Other information
- After the Dragons, another tribe could be added. Since it would more likely unbalance the game, it might require the rotation of an old one.
- Initially, Battlegrounds was only supposed to be a 1v1 Tavern brawl that would have been published in February 2019 at the time of the great popularity of AutoChess.
- The development was quite difficult. Indeed, it is based on Hearthstone, but many things work differently, while others do not exist at all, such as the ability to move your minions on the board.
- The response from the community has been very positive and the teams are really happy with it.
- For the moment, teams are focusing on gameplay, and are not dealing with potential additional rewards. These kinds of questions will be addressed after the beta is released.
- The heroes that work best for new players are those who give bonuses to certain tribes, allowing them to focus on a strategy. Daryl is a very bad choice for new players who can't use his heroic power effectively.
- One of the developers' goals is to make heroes more balanced.
- We may soon know more about the background of Bob the Innkeeper who, according to the two developers, has a rather rich past!
