Endwalker, the brand new expansion for Final Fantasy XIV brough massive amount of content but sometime it's the little things that can take the most time. In this guide we'll check how you can easily farm Northern Herring that are used in the new cooking recipes and collectables.
This fish is currently in high demand on my server and can sell for around 20,000 gils so you can check on yours too if you're interested in making a few quick gils.
How to farm Northern Herring in FFXIV
First of all the tackle used to get this fish: From my experience I had very good results using Shrimp Balls, those are bought from the Material Supplier in Old Sharlayan located at X: 12.7 Y: 10.3
To fish these Herrings you will need to go the the Sharlayan docks. There is no exact spot, as long as there is water you should be alright.
The Northern Herrings are marked by a single ! so it is very easy to fish them three by three for example:
- You first get one
- Then use your spell to fish the same fish again
- Use your double (or triple if you reached the level 90) hook.
- If you don't get one, use your spell to avoid fishing this one again and wait for the next single ! to hook and it will then be the Northern Herring for sure.
