Tower of Fantasy is available since August 11, 2022 and this new gacha game lets you experience a futuristic open-world adventure with an MMORPG aspect. Your goal is therefore not only to explore the different regions, to complete quests but also to summon characters and improve them. On ToF, the summoning system is a bit special and allows you to actually obtain weapons with various rarity levels: N - R - SR - SRR. Attached to these weapons are characters called Simulacrums only for SR and SSR rarities. Today, we are particularly interested in Meryl and her Blade of the Rose weapon.
Meryl: Presentation of the SSR and banners
Meryl is part of the game's permanent banner (obtainable with Golden Nuclei) but you also have a low chance of getting her on the game's very first temporary banner (Nemesis), which lasts from August 11, 2022 (launch of the game) to August 31, 2022. Note that currently, it is possible to do Meryl's story for free in the Simulacra page. This allows you to learn more about her and test her weapon.

The different skins
If you get Meryl's weapon multiple times, then you can increase her star level. At the end of the 3-star level , you get a different skin for the Simulacrum Meryl. As a reminder, it is possible to use the Lame de la Rose weapon without putting on Meryl's appearance.

Currently, the only way to obtain Blade of the Rose, Meryl's SSR weapon, is to summon on the permanent or temporary banner. Some World Bosses give you a chance to loot the weapon: Robarg, Apophis, Cryobot, Lucia and Sobek.
Good to know: a launch event currently allows you to obtain the SSR of your choice for free.
Blade of the Rose weapon effect
- Ice Shell : Fully charged weapons freeze the target for 2 seconds and leave them frozen for 6 seconds. Breaking the ice shell deals bonus damage equal to 151% ATK. While frozen, the target's weapon charge rate is reduced by 50%.
How is Meryl/Lame de la Rose played and with whom/what weapon?
Meryl (or at least her Blade of the Rose weapon) is played in melee and it is to be preferred if you orient your Avatar as a DPS/Tank (for multiplayer). It's a very good weapon that causes heavy damage but which will above all allow you to slow down enemies with each hit, giving you a definite advantage whether in solo or in multiplayer. Meryl excels at hitting hard, launching her enemies into the air, and following up with powerful aerial combos, while isolating enemies with her ice crystals to keep them at bay.
- Its strengths : playing mainly in melee, its Discharge (ulti) will however allow it to attack from a distance by inflicting much more damage with each successive blow and hitting several targets. To start, Meryl/Blade of the Rose is an excellent weapon that will allow you to break shields and even give shields to her allies. She is also immune to CC. You can pair it with Fire weapons for a better combo like KING or Huma. Note that after the 1st star, it can also heal.
- Weaknesses : Meryl is rather slow and has very long cooldowns.
Progression: how to improve Blade of the Rose?
The 6 star levels
Each SR and SSR weapon can progress up to a 6-star level. Initially, your weapon will be at 0 stars and you will therefore have to improve it 6 times to reach the maximum level, but this means that you will have to obtain the same weapon 7 times to improve it.
- 1★: Increases burst by 15% and restores 10% of HP after target's shield burst.
- 2★: Increase base HP growth of current weapon by 16%.
- 3★: Obtain a Health Ice Shield with a maximum health value of 10% when the weapon is changed; cooldown takes 20 seconds; the ice shield lasts up to 10 seconds.
- 4★: Increase base HP growth of current weapon by 32%.
- 5★: Increases damage and burst by 50% while shield is active.
- 6★: Health Ice Shield with up to 20% health value is obtained when switching to weapon. The shield provides immunity to control effects; cooldown lasts 20 seconds; Ice Shield lasts up to 10 seconds.

Normal
- Heavy Strike : While on the ground, swing a gray sword to attack 4 times in a row.
- Air Strike : When airborne or after jumping once, hit with normal attack to attack 4 times in a row.
- Rising Slash : After the third normal attack, hold down the normal attack to trigger the rising attack. Knocks the target into the air and moves through the air, dealing damage equal to 53.6% ATK + 3.
- Twilight Slash : Touch and hold normal attack while airborne (or tap when a target is selected), or hit normal attack when climbing, jumping back, or using the Jetpack to trigger Twilight Slash . While falling, each hit deals damage equal to 12.5% ATK + 1. Upon landing, deals damage equal to 117.1% ATK + 6 and throws targets. The user takes increased damage based on their altitude when unleashing this attack, up to 600% ATK.
- Sneak Attack : Approach the enemy from behind while crouching, then hit normal attack to use Sneak Attack, dealing damage equal to 570% ATK + 30.
- Whirlwind : While stationary or moving, touch and hold normal attack to trigger Whirlwind, dealing damage equal to 82% ATK + 4 every 0.5 seconds to the target. Grants immunity to stuns while in use.
Dodge
- Dodge : Dodge just before being hit to activate a Phantasia, which reduces the speed of enemies in the area. Reload: 15 seconds. While dodging, you gain immunity to stuns for 0.5 seconds.
- Havoc : Hit with normal attack during the short perfect dodge window (hit an arrow key before dodging) to trigger Havoc. Deals damage equal to 55% ATK + 3 to each target hit and thrown.
- Crescent Slash : Hit with normal attack for the short period after dodging to trigger Crescent Slash. Wield the blade to release auras forward, each dealing damage equal to 41.3% ATK + 2.
Blade of the Rose Special Skill
- Blizzard : Swing the blade to launch sword auras forward, each dealing damage equal to 90.8% ATK + 5 and increasing damage dealt by 5% with each hit. While active, it is immune to crowd control effects. 45 second cooldown.
Dump
- Frost Barrier : When weapon charge is full or Fantasy is triggered, remove all debuffs from the wearer, and smash the ground to form a barrier when switching to this weapon, dealing damage equal to 419.3 % ATK +22 to nearby enemies, knocking enemies into the air. This reduces their speed by 50% and prevents them from dodging or jumping. The barrier lasts 5 seconds and blocks projectiles.
Recommended matrices
There are only 4 die slots to put on your weapon. A bit like artifacts, the matrices work in sets: the more pieces of the same set you put, the more the set in question grants bonuses. For Blade of the Rose, it is recommended to put a KING 2-piece set + a Shiro 2-piece set.
Set x2 : For every 10% shard applied to a target, increases damage dealt by 4%/5%/6%/7% for 25 seconds, up to 3 stacks.
Set x2 : Increases damage and shards dealt to targets above 50% HP by 15%/19%/22.5%/26%.
