Overwatch decides to play with us again. A third teaser about the potential release of the next hero has been unveiled on Twitter. After a first tweet showing a personal log of Dr. Mina Liao, then an audio tape in which we could hear him being attacked, it's now the turn of a photo to give us clues about hero 32.
The picture shows us the head of an omniac who, if you look closely, is not unknown to you. The sheet attached to the photo - which appears to have been taken at Route 66 - mentions a "vehicle trailer" and what is in its "ovoid container": something white with blue markings, and having the word "ECHO" as a reference.
If you haven't yet guessed who might be joining the Overwatch team, we invite you to watch the cinematic "Homecoming" with Jesse McCree.
First Teaser
Liao was one of the six founding members of Overwatch. In her diary she mentions Jack (Soldier 76) who also participated in the creation of this international group formed to fight the Omnic Crisis. This new teasing thus goes back to the very origins of the organisation.
Second Teaser
You can hear Dr. Mina Liao shouting "Everyone get back!", before continuing with "Stay down! Stay down!" This new evidence suggests that something went wrong in her lab, or that the scientist and her colleagues were attacked. By Talon? By Omnics? We don't know much more than that. After a shattering of glass, the soundtrack ends with a heavy silence.
Dr. Mina Liao mentions several times the fact that omnics must be considered as much as human beings. She is in favor of cohabitation with these robots, even adding that "artificial life is still fundamentally life."
In 2020, Michael Chu confirmed on Twitter that Liao was "definitely still an important person" and that there was "more to come." Could we soon embody this doctor with strong ideals? Or wouldn't she have a connection to another character who could also join the Overwatch team?
All indications are that Hero 32 will indeed be Echo. As Blizzard hasn't confirmed anything yet, only time will tell if we were right in thinking that the enigmatic robot will be part of Overwatch very soon. The date of March 23 is indicated at the bottom of the document on the third teaser. Could this be the date when we'll have all the answers to our questions?
