With a CV sporting some very impressive results, including four tournament wins, ALEX is known as one of the best in-game leaders in CS:GO.
In a move previously unheard of in esports, new General Manager HenryG revealed details of the deal that took the British rifler to the NA org.
With the total package worth $1.65m, which includes the player's salary and the buyout of his Vitality contract, ALEX will remain with the side for three years.
A fluent French-speaker having also featured for LDLC, ALEX helped lead a talented Vitality squad — featuring French superstar Mathieu "ZywOo" Herbaut — to wins at EPICENTER 2019 and ECS Season 7.
In a TwitLonger post, ALEX thanked Vitality for his time with them — and perhaps also teased more UK players for the C9 roster:
"By the way, how many UK players is too many for one team?"
ALEX revealed his new allegiance on French Counter-Strike show The Draft:
ALEX's move is certainly a massive investment for Cloud9, and also sets a new precedent for Counter-Strike and esports in general. This reveal could mean we see more financial details disclosed going forward, like we see with traditional sports, for greater transparency overall.
With four more members (at least) of Cloud9's roster still to come, it's an exciting rebirth for an organisation that has been starved of success in recent years. It's also a big statement of intent for new GM HenryG, who has already spoken of his ambition for C9.
