As we told you a few hours ago, EA released the first trailer for FIFA 22 and announced the release date for it (October 1). After showing impressive new features, such as the “Hypermotion” technology, the company revealed that Nintendo Switch won’t get a normal release. Instead of that, Nintendo users will receive another “Legacy Edition”.
For those who don’t know about “Legacy Edition”, this basically means that Nintendo Switch owners are getting almost the exact same game they have purchased since FIFA 18. Legacy Edition only updates the kits, clubs and squad rosters. The rest, including game mechanics and engine, remains the same. While the price hasn’t been confirmed yet, the previous edition was sold for $49.99 on the eShop.
While it's true that the Nintendo Switch couldn’t run the upcoming title as well as the other systems, it’s still unfortunate that this version gets little to no care at all. Features like Hypermotion aren’t expected, but Legacy Edition doesn’t include modes such as VOLTA FOOTBALL and The Journey. Fan favorites Career Mode and Ultimate Team are available, but none of them includes the upgrades and improvements made through the years — there aren’t Squad Battles or FUT Champions, for instance.
FIFA 22 will be released worldwide and for every platform on October 1. However, those who purchase the Ultimate Edition will be able to begin their sporty journey on September 27.
