Roughly a month after its rollout in Europe and America, Lost Ark seems to be gradually losing steam even as Amazon Games recently boasted of fixing queuing issues on Central European realms what does the game stats look like right now?
Drop in players in Lost Ark, what are the reasons?
Even if Lost Ark is very far from dead right now, it's still important to say there has been a fairly blatant loss of speed in recent days, a drop in the "hype" illustrated by SteamCharts and SteamDB which offer graphs showing the density of players over time.
If at first glance these curves may seem frightening, they should be put into context. Lost Ark was released at the same time as other games or expansions eagerly awaited by players who are fans of the associated styles like:
The two fiercest competitors to Lost Ark in this list are of course, at the moment, Elden Ring and Horizon: Forbidden West. However, it is mainly the first that will have attracted the community where Horizon will have remained more or less in the shadow of Lost Ark and its direct competitor. Although the genres of these three games are very different, they are "AAA" games very coveted by the general public (although Elden Ring has greatly surprised on this side), and it is for this reason that their release almost at the same time as Lost Ark partly explains the decline in players of the Smilegate RPG MMOARPG.
These highly anticipated new games or new updates coupled with the issues that Lost Ark suffered from (and still suffers in some cases) are most likely at the heart of many gamers' choice to take this game out of interest, at least temporarily. However, it should be remembered that this is an MMORPG and that it is essentially very time-consuming in the way it is approached, in the same way as World of Warcraft or Final Fantasy XIV for example. Players regularly get tired of this type of game (rightly or wrongly), before coming back for a little spin on it a few weeks later when deploying a content update, for example.
Legend:
- Blue: Lost Ark (released February 8, 2022 in early access, February 11, 2022 in Free To Play)
- Green: Elden Ring (released February 25, 2022)
-
Yellow: Apex Legends (Season 12 released February 8, 2022)
Lost Ark's peaks are generally the evenings from 6:00 p.m. (Paris time), where its troughs are its extended maintenance periods during which the servers are completely idle. Apex Legends doesn't seem to have had a huge impact or even suffered from Smilegate RPG's MMOAPRG rollout, but Elden Ring on the other hand seems to be clearly taking over Lost Ark, especially since the weekend of March 11-13, and that is quite normal since that's where the most players are available, so everyone rushes to the "new game" in vogue!
