During the last State of Play, fans were treated to 14 minutes of gameplay from Hogwarts Legacy. The opportunity to learn more about the gigantic open world proposed by the developers, the combat system or even all the classes which the player can attend. Several times, references to Quidditch , the stadium itself and the famous Snitch were then shown during the trailer. Does this mean that we will be able to participate in matches?
Hogwarts Legacy: All Quidditch Hints
Let's start by analyzing the two trailers of the game in order to identify all the references to Quidditch. This magical sport is never mentioned in official communications from Warner Bros. or Avalanche Software, but one thing is certain: it already existed in 1890 , when the Hogwarts Legacy scenario takes place. From there, there is no doubt that matches between Houses or between the different schools of the wizarding world were already taking place. The only outstanding question is: will we, as players, be able to attend and even participate?
For the moment, we have never seen the main character (player) perform activities close to Quidditch. In contrast, in the gameplay trailer shown during March's State of Play, he is seen on a flying broomstick . We then hear the voice of the flight teacher and that of the narrator explaining that the courses will be used to control the broom to explore the open world.
But a few minutes before, in this same trailer, we see the teacher on her broom and the Quidditch stadium in the background. Note that this sport has existed for centuries and it was in 1269 that the first Snitch appeared. An important historical fact since we find a Golden Snitch in the trailer! The first time, in front of our player who advances towards the magic sorting hat, and the second time twirling in the common room of Gryffindor.
Hogwarts Legacy: Will we be able to play Quidditch or will we have to wait for a DLC?
Despite all these clues showing that Quidditch is present in the game, nothing seems to confirm that we can do it ourselves. The most logical would be that we can attend a few matches since the castle of Hogwarts and its surroundings are fully explorable and that we see several times students in Quidditch outfits.
Many fans have been hoping to be able to ride their broom, dodge bludgers, and catch the Snitch, but it looks like that feature isn't present in Hogwarts Legacy yet. Perhaps the developers wanted to save the surprise for a future announcement. After all, the Harry Potter RPG won't be released until the end of the year, and there's still time to spill a few secrets of the game via other conferences.
The other option considered may be that of paid DLC a few months after the release of the title. We can easily imagine the success of Hogwarts Legacy and therefore imagine, why not, an extension entirely dedicated to Quidditch in solo but also with online options. At the moment the game does not have multiplayer but that could change.
