Getting started with housing in Final Fantasy XIV isn't always easy. You will first need to choose the type of housing you want and the size if you are trying to take a house, but also gather funds and find an available plot of land.
Most of the time, getting gils isn't really the problem and you may have heard of the housing issues that Square Enix's MMO has been facing for a while.
Finding an available plot is often complicated, but only concerns houses, here are the different options available to you when looking for your own place:
- The apartments are available in all housing areas for a total of 500,000 gil sand consist of a single room
- Free Company Rooms are the same size and are available for 3,000,000 gils if your CL already has a home
- Small, medium and large homes are available at prices ranging from around 3 million to 60 million gils .
To get your apartment all you have to do is go to one of the currently available housing areas and go to the apartment complex. If the division you have chosen has no more apartment places, you just have to choose another one, it is very rare not to find a place instantly.
CL rooms are available through the door at the far end of the ground floor of your free company house and function just like an apartment.
Getting your hands on a house, however, is much more complex, you will have to go to one of the cities hosting a housing zone and search among the divisions and subdivisions if a spot is free. Once done you will have to go there and try to buy it at the sign. However, the purchase is not easy, the house availability timer is secret , the one displayed only concerns its price and you sometimes have to wait several hours while clicking on the sign to be able to buy your house, and the competition is often rough.
The apartment remains a nice alternative while waiting to buy a house during the addition of divisions for example. The 6.1 of the game should also add a new housing area in Ishgard allowing many players to get their hands on their first home.
