A Tier V resource, Iron Hides are key in creating Infused Leather. However, they're not easy to find. This guide shows you how and where to get Iron Hide in New World.

Where to find Iron Hides for Infused Leather in New World

Iron Hides are a key item in New World, and are the main component in refining Infused Leather.

They can be found when skinning high-level beasts such as Large Prey and Small and Large Predators, naturally found in the highest-level territories of Aeternum.

It's advised to also have raised your character level, as well as your Skinning skill, in order to track these beasts first.

Here's what you need to know about Iron Hides in New World.

What do you need Iron Hides for in New World?

Iron Hides are a key component in crafting Infused Leather, a Tier V Leather used in more than 300 different recipes across all professions - from Armoring and Weaponsmithing to Arcana, Engineering and Furnishing.

To craft Infused Leather you need:

  • x8 Iron Hides
  • x2 Layered Leather
  • x1 Tannin

Infused Leather is also used in the creation of Runic Leather, another Tier V Leather that is crucial in crafting several Epic and Legendary weapons and pieces of Armor - including the sought-after Voidbent Armor.

To craft Runic Leather you need:

  • x5 Infused Leather (x40 Iron Hides)
  • x1 Smolderhide
  • x1 Scarhide

As you can see, you're going to need a lot of Iron Hides to craft endgame gear.

New World: The best farming spots for Iron Hides

Given the level requirement of the beasts in farming Iron Hides, you're going to want to focus your search on the following regions:

  • Edengrove - Level Range 50-60
  • Shattered Mountain - Level Range 50-60
  • Reekwater - Level Range 55-60
  • Ebonscale Reach - Level Range 55-60

Here are where we think are good places to look. We haven't included Wolves or Boar, but you should find plenty of those too if you're in the right areas.

Edengrove

The first good spot is in the northwest, along the path that takes you from the Gatherer's Road shrine past Protea Lair and Fungalrust. Here you'll find plenty of Lynx, and even a few Bison.

The second is in the northeast, around the Cruel Vista. This is a good source of Mountain Lions and Alligators, and it handy in that it's right next to the Last Stand Outpost.

Shattered Mountain

We've gone for three locations in Shattered Mountain. The first is around the Desolate Cliffs area in the northwest, where you'll find plenty of Elk Bulls and Alligators.

The second is in the northeast. Taking the path north from Mountainrise Outpost will see you encounter Elk Bulls and Alligators, while a detour slightly west to Lapsus adds Bison.

The final area is south of Mountainhome. This area is basically Bison Central.

Reekwater

There's no real specialist location in Reekwater, because as you can see the entire western haf of the region is teeming with beasts.

You'll find Lions around Fort Reekwater and Echoing Roar in the south, Bison are plentiful surrounding the settlement, and there are a whole load of Alligators around Forecastle Drift in the south and along the western coast.

New World

Ebonscale Reach

The first area we've gone for is Palewind Terrace, surrounding the Traveler's Precipice shrine. Here you'll find plenty of Elk, with Alligators residing just to the south.

The second is around the Pilgrim's Rest shrine, specifically Serenity Rise. There's a whole lot of Bear here, with Bison to the west.

Finally, a place that is named after its residents - Alligator Habitat. This can be found east of the Dryad Ruins.
