We were talking about it during the "free weekend" event organized a few weeks ago by Amazon, New World 's servers are under-populated. Far from having abandoned their game, the developers seem to have learned from this experience and are currently working on solutions to continue to please their loyal community and at the same time attract new players.
The first stage will have been deployed during the Easter weekend: a new merger of certain servers in the same region.
What is the purpose of the server merge?
When the MMORPG was released, New World had so many concurrent players that the servers were full and endless queues sometimes prevented in-game login, much like in the early days of Lost Ark . Amazon Games then had to open other servers.
However, the number of players quickly began to decline and the demographic drop became more and more brutal over time. As a result, many servers had suddenly become quite empty and it was difficult to find players to share the adventure with.
So that the servers are full again and that New World players can more easily find teammates or participate in PvP battles, Amazon Games has therefore decided to consolidate the servers . Here is the result of the mergers in Central Europe:
- Abaton includes Asgard, Hades, Hellheim, Fae and Caer Sidi
- Aaru includes Styx, Antillia, Utgard and Learad
- Lyonesse is part of Nysa
- Tir Na Nog includes Bifrost, Niflheim, Bengodi and Kor
-
Arcturus is part of Tartarus
Thanks to this action, six of the available servers are now considered full and the Easter weekend will have been a success in terms of population: up to 1600 simultaneous connections on the Aaru and Evonium servers.
What does the community think?
If you previously had difficulty finding players or quest support, this should now change. At peak times, between 8 p.m. and 11 p.m., you can regularly read player searches and group recruitments.
PvP players can also rejoice: the faction wars for the various territories are once again in full swing and enjoying massive participation.
On the other hand, players who want to harvest certain materials will be less satisfied. The most interesting resource spots are currently either empty or surrounded by farmers eagerly awaiting respawn.
Apart from this last point which can easily be corrected, it therefore seems that the lights are finally going back to green for New World . At least as far as the regulars are concerned. Now that the basics have been solidified, Amazon needs to turn the trial around by bringing more players back to its servers.
