LoL: Teamfight Tactics, TFT, release date, gameplay, info

Riot Games have just announced their upcoming League of Legends game mode: Teamfight Tactics, a tactical game similar to DotA Auto Chess. In this game mode, no 5v5 fights but a solo game mode where you will have to challenge 7 opponents in several rounds and one objective: remain the last one undefeated. Teamfight Tactics alpha version will be available in Oceania starting June 25, in Europe on June 26 and in other regions on June 27!

Some American streamers / youtubers, like Scarra, had the opportunity to get a preview of this upcoming game mode and there is the information we learnt in their introducing videos.

Champions available

50 champions called "unity" will be available during the game release. The complete list has not been unveiled yet but for now, we only know 15 of them: Lucian, Graves, Fiora, Vayne, Tristana, Katarina, Blitzcrank, Ashe, Lulu, Aurelion Sol, Rek'Sai, Nidalee, Gnar, Ahri and Varus.

Teamfight Tactics

Like for DotA 2 Auto Chess, those 50 units will be divided between 13 species (called "Origins" in Teamfight Tactics) and 10 classes.

Items feature

In Teamfight Tactics, the items feature is quite simple, but Scarra states that items have much more impact in LoL than in DotA 2 Auto Chess. 2 minor items are likely to create a major item:

  • 2 BF Swords for an Infinity Edge
  • 2 Tears of the Goddess for an Archangel's Staff

There are currently 8 items in Teamfight Tactics, 7 coming from League of legends and a 8th one called "Dust", which is really rare and "totally broken", like says Scarra. It allows one of your units to get one class' attributes without being a part of it while keeping the current class' attributes. For example, a Blademaster may get the attributes of a Wizard using Dust.

2 Dusts will allow you to craft the well-known Force of Nature, which can make caps of unit stats disappear (attack speed, cooldown...).

Teamfight Tactics

Other Information

  • You can buy and upgrade units in the Shop
  • Units can be upgraded until Rank 5
  • Each round will grant XP to your units
  • 4 golds allow you to get 4XP more
  • Contrary to DotA 2 Auto Chess, your win streaks and lose streaks will start with the 2nd win or loss.

Contrary to DotA 2 Auto Chess, the map center allows Scarra to call the Carousel. After several rounds, the game teleports the players in the map center with available units and items. This feature has been added to help comebacks. For example, all arriving players will be frozen and the one with less HP will be the first to be freed and will be able to take whatever unit/item he wants. On the other side, the one with most HP will be freed last.

All of this information came from the Scarra video and it will be updated with each added information!
