Riot's first AMA (Ask Me Anything) session on its new Teamfight Tactics mode was held on June 20. As its name suggests, Reddit users were able to ask all the questions to some of the studio members and hopefully get their attention. Here is a summary of the important points (you can find the full post here).
- The units' damage to the opponent's Small Legend after a victory was fixed with the June 20th patch. The complete chart can be found below.
- A mobile version in the future is not ruled out, but their main goal is to make the PC version work perfectly. One thing at a time!
- The Ranked mode will work in the same way as in the Summoner's Rift (Third Parties, Divisions, etc.). Games with friends will be possible (up to 3 in the same game for Platinum and +, up to 5 for Gold and +).
- Riot relies on the fact that players will not wintrade, but stand ready to punish future abuses if they happen, or to modify the system to avoid abuses.
- The goal is not to have "all the champions" on TFT. On the other hand, it is clearly envisaged to add some for the needs of the meta and to release some of them for a while.
- Skins obtained in League of Legends will not be usable in TFT. The main reason is technical: too many PCs would have trouble displaying all this with the engine Riot uses. Another reason is that all players must be able to scout what opponents are doing and recognize champions easily during the Carousel phase.
- Instead of skins, it could be that an origin like the Star Guardians is created, and that players can play their characters in Star Guardians version and that it brings a synergy.
- All objects have buffs that stack and work nowadays.
- Champions are not meant to be all at the same power level. Some must be pure Tier S as soon as they arrive on the battlefield, others will be thanks to the synergies they bring, or even thanks to items for example. For Gangplank for example, the fact that it has 3 origin/class traits makes it relatively powerful in the end.
- The boxes are hexagonal to make the placement more interesting in general. Moreover, Riot is open to adding a line if the need arises (something very much in demand by current players/streamers).
- Champions work differently enough to choose their targets: some will be more classic (and take the closest target) while others will take a target they consider relevant.
Some data should be displayed in the future, such as damage done per round and per champion, or probabilities on objects and champions for example. - There are a lot of mechanics that Riot would like to implement on the game and that will be explored as patches are made.
- Earlygame items are a concern they want to solve, to have less randomness about receiving objects, but more randomness about the objects themselves. News will be coming soon.
The goal of Tactical Combat is to be competitive, clearly, but also to offer a social and fun experience at the same time. - New mouse/keyboard shortcuts could be implemented if the need arises.
- The economic system should correspond to that of the League of Legends, i.e. not become a pay to win system. What should be monetized are the Little Legends, battlefield skins or an event pass for TFT.
- The exact release date of TFT is not yet known, but it is to be expected that this will be released during patch 9.13. A priori, not the day of the patch itself.
- There is a good chance that Poros will come as a Little Legend at some point.
- It is possible that we will see 1 or 2 new champions arrive with patch 9.14.
Finally, the probabilities of having a champion of such and such a cost in gold according to the level of your Little Legend have been revealed: you can find them below.
