For some time now, the character of Yae Miko has become one of the most interesting in Genshin Impact.
Arriving in Inazuma on a mission from the Archon of Chapter Two, she has awakened theories in the community due to her mysterious relationships and the particular title she holds.
So just who is she?
We'll take a look here -- but be mindful that there may be plot spoilers before continuing.
Who is Yae Miko?
Strictly speaking, Yae Miko is a character who will be added to Genshin Impact over the next few patches, and who is already a key part of the main story's development.
The High Priestess of the Grand Narukami Shrine is a mysterious woman who seems particularly interested in the Traveler, leading to a host of theories.
Some players place Yae Miko as the true Electro Archon. One interesting idea from the community takes advantage of the parallels between Inazuma and the history of Japan.
It factors in the similarities between Miko and the statues of the Archon to try to determine the nature of the mysterious relationship he has with Shogun Raiden.
There are even those who defend that Baal has stolen her power, or that the statue of Inazuma is actually this mysterious character.
Yae Miko and Honkai Impact's mysterious relationship
Before Genshin Impact, miHoYo released a similar title called Honkai Impact 3rd.
Both games share a very similar character design, and in Yae Miko's case, parallels were immediately drawn between her and Yae Sakura.
The design is identical, they both share part of the name, they share roles as priestesses, and they even have the same Japanese voice actress. Interestingly, Yae Sakura also held the title of Miko ('Maiden') in Honkai Impact 3rd.
There's many coincidences at play here, that miHoYo are sure to reveal throughout the next few patches. With Teyvat being a magical world, it sure is about to become even more so.
