The news hit the Final Fantasy XIV community recently that Stephen Critchlow, the actor who voiced Count Edmont de Fortemps in the English version of the game, has died at the age of 54.
Several tributes have already been dedicated to Critchlow in-game by groups of players. Fortemps, one of the more iconic in the Heavensward expansion, was one of the central characters of the story in Ishgard.
Present in many cutscenes, Fortemps supports the Warrior of Light throughout their journey in reuniting dragons and humans. Fortemps is also the father of another very important character in the plot, Haurchefant Greystone.
Critchlow was not only known for his interpretation of the Count in FFXIV. He also lent his voice to Bana in Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and Doric in Dragon Quest Heroes. He has also worked for the BBC, appearing in over 200 BBC drama and radio broadcasts.
Just as Dark Knights were legion when Kentaro Miura passed away, many Paladins gathered in front of the character's mansion to pay homage with campfires and by using their Wings of Light.
These tributes will likely last for a few more days, seen when traveling to Ishgard.
We send our deepest condolences to Stephen Critchlow's family and loved ones.
