Between World of Warcraft refugees and growing popularity, the number of players in Final Fantasy XIV has been growing for months and the servers are not necessarily able to keep up with the load.
The current health situation and the global shortage of semiconductors made it very difficult for Square Enix teams to increase the capacity of American & European servers. Unable to attend, Naoki Yoshida explained that not being able to verify the facilities in person greatly slowed the addition of new servers.
This issue is also the reason why the inter-world journey, originally scheduled for before Endwalker's release, has been delayed.
FF14 maintenance schedule for September 27 and 28
Maintenance will take place on September 27, 2021 from 7pm to September 28 at 3am PDT.
The services affected by this maintenance are as follows:
- All FF14 servers
- The companion application and all its features (will only be impacted until 12am)
- The Lodestone site (will only be impacted until 12 a.m.)
