With less than 70 hours before the release of Endwalker for Final Fantasy XIV the main story will surely be very important to be able to progress through the game. Just like with Shadowbringers most of the content will be locked behind the story.
We already know that the story will be around 30% longer, be it cutscene or pure quests if you're planning on reading everything, the word count will definitely be higher.
But how long will that take? The Shadowbringers story is 105 quests long if you only include what's been published with patch 5.0 and from then on there are two options:
- The quest number stay the same and the cutscenes are longer/more cutscenes
- There are more quests.
If you're planning on reading and watching everything, be it one or the other will not change that you will spend more time clearing the MSQ. On the other hand, skippers will have a very different experience with one option or the other. If there are more cutscene the speedrun will be about the as with Shadowbringers, however more quests would mean more time to skip it all.
From experience, the complete shadowbringers 5.0 story should be around 12 hours, dungeons excluded so you could expect something a little longer than that for Endwalker.
I will have to skip everything this time to be able to write all the content guides quickly enough so I will make sure to update you on how long it took me to complete the 6.0 quests.
What to expect from Endwalker in FFXIV
Many changes are to be expected with Endwalker, both with classes and existing features. The new eight-player raid tier "Pandemonium" will also be introduced with the expansion.
While waiting for the release of this major update, which also introduces the new Reaper and Sage classes, you can take advantage of our many guides on the content already available here.
Our portal will also be updated as soon as possible with the latest information on Endwalker ahead of release, with plenty of content starting December 3.
