Since its beta release on November 30, 2018, Red Dead Online (or RDO) has grown significantly, especially with the release of its final version on May 14, 2019. But, as with GTA Online, Rockstar continues to publish regular content to keep its players, but also to attract new ones. Later in the summer, a new big update will be added to RDO, which will introduce character classes.
There are three unique classes, which will radically change the gameplay, with specific talent trees and a unique progression path to improve synergy between players. Thus, we learn, through an official statement, more details on these first three classes:
Bounty Hunter
As its name suggests, you will be a mercenary attracted only by money. On both sides of the law, your character will have more contracts available and will even be able to handle players whose bonuses are beyond comprehension. This class will provide access to specific objects or skills, such as a reinforced lasso, advanced tracking and even access to complex weapons.
Trader
If your thing is to have a display with rare foods, the role of Merchant will be better for you. No trigger-happy pirouettes here, we're just talking about setting up a business to make money. Thus, your various walks in the forest and other hunting trips will allow you to produce rare goods that you can sell at a good price. By choosing this role, you will also have the heavy burden of sleeping on a large source of gold in your camp and that you will have to protect your goods (dogs will alert you when you are attacked). This role is quite similar to what you find in companies in GTA Online, where you will have to look for raw materials and deliver them. Let's bet it will be as complicated as in the latter, with a gigantic marker on the map when you carry your cart full to the brim. With the role of the Merchant, you will have the opportunity to have an improved camp with a weapon locker or pot, for example, or a larger bag.
Collector
Finally, the Collector, whose goal will be to explore the world in search of rare treasures. Jewellery, rare arrowheads and other trinkets await you in the Wild West, in order to sell them individually piece or in a single gigantic load. With this role, you will have access to better binoculars, a lantern for your horse's saddle, and even a metal detector, in addition to various abilities to help you in your adventures.
Red Dead Online is available via Red Dead Redemption 2, released on Xbox One and PS4 on October 26, 2018 and is developed by Rockstar. RDO requires an Xbox Live Gold or Playstation+ subscription.
