If you're tired of your plated armor in Final Fantasy XIV and want to wear something else, that's possible thanks to the Glamour system. This mechanic allows players to wear their classic equipment, but change its look.
Glamour Plates, on the other hand, can be considered a register of specific glamour sets that you will be able to cast on your equipment without paying for the glamour prism and dyes other than their initial purchase. Glamour Plates can be applied anytime for free, as long as you can wear the piece you're trying to get the look from and that you're in a major city.
How to Unlock Glamour Plates
To unlock Glamour Plates you will first need to complete the quest "If I Had a Glamour" given by Swyrgeim in Western Thanalan (X:12.6 Y:14.3).
Creating your Glamour Plates
Once unlocked you will be able to access the Glamour Dresser in any Inn of the game and start creating your own styles.
First of all, the Glamour Dresser allows you to register the look of an item in exchange for a Glamour Prism. After that, the item will enter the available glamour list and will be usable in Glamour Plates infinitely.
This means you can register the look of an item and then take it out of the dresser by right-clicking on it and pressing Restore.
Once you unlock the skins you want to include in your Glamour Plates, you can select Edit Glamour Plates to enter the corresponding menu and start the process.
A glamour plate includes all the pieces of equipment a player can use from head to toe — and it's even possible to wear specific glamours that make some pieces invisible.
You can have up to 15 Glamour Plates. Deleting one will also cancel any dye you have applied inside of that plate.
When creating a Glamour Plate, you can choose to dye your glam. This will require and consume the dye you choose, but will allow you to dye any new piece of equipment on which you apply your dye for free.
For example, if i change the chest piece of an armor to a dress, that dress will be of the color I set on the plate everytime — without consuming more dyes.
We hope we have helped you get into the glamour system, and wish to see you again on our Final Fantasy XIV portal for more guides and news!
