With Patch 5.45 making its way to Final Fantasy XIV, the Save The Queen Relics can be upgraded once more — and the process can take a while.
Or, at least, they used to take a while. A new hotfix has lessended the burden on the Memories farm.
After the first step of upgrading your Relic in Patch 5.45, the quest will ask you to farm two new items:
- 18 Haunting Memories of the Dying
- 18 Vexatious Memories of the Dying
Right after this new step of the relic was added, and people finished farming 15 Alliance raids to get the first step down, the drop rates of these two Memories was so bad that the HS and SB Alliance raids were chosen by many players.
However, it is now certain that farming FATEs in Gyr Abania and Othard is by far the quickest way to get this step of the relic done.
In fact, the average number of FATEs needed to drop just one Memory is anywhere between one and three at most.
Of course, this number is a general idea, as you never know if the drop rate will favour you or not. From my experience of farming these after the hotfix with other players, farming 18 of them took a little over an hour. I had poor luck for some time, while a party member kept getting several in a row.
Either way, this method soon became the quickest way to farm Memories for your Relic.
If you have any luck or stories about this round of farming, feel free to share them in the comments section below — i'd love to know how the Relic grind went for you!
