Fight against the Somnacanth
The Somnacanth uses its sleeping powder to fight. It will project it in different forms to try to put you to sleep: by swimming in a circle, blowing and sweeping the area, and finally unleashing a huge "explosion" that will send powder over a large area around it. The powder explosion can be intimidating at first since the preparation phase makes it very clear on the screen that something big is coming. Instead of running away, you should take the opportunity to attack its tail.
The physical attacks of this monster are not very strong. It strikes with its head and tail while swimming around you. Try to avoid the big blows that sweep the area by rolling. Aim for the head and tail to inflict maximum damage, the Somnacanth is quite fragile and sensitive.
Its shell attacks are probably the only thing to watch out for. The Somnacanth will adopt the otter's posture, planking before opening a huge rock. There are at least three possible outcomes, which you can anticipate by watching the light effect surrounding said shell.
- Green Light: It will restore life or stamina to the monster.
- Yellow Light: Stunning effect. If you are not immune to stuns, you have to turn your back or just move away.
- Red Light: If you see red flames coming out of the shell, it will explode violently and inflict heavy damage. Its area of effect is limited, so rolling backwards once or twice is usually enough.
