Floating Spinefish are a special type of harvestable creature found in the wilds of New World, which players can gather for Water Motes and Spinefish Fins.
Taking the form of sky blue fish, these rare creatures are best found in four clusters. We've excluded Shattered Mountain, just because of the level requirement.
Here's what you'll need and where the best areas are to find Floating Spinefish in New World.
What do you need Floating Spinefish for in New World?
Water Motes are used in a whole load of concoctions, including potions, coatings, and tinctures, and the cutting of Aquamarine gemstones. It is also a key resource in crafting the Elemental Heart, a mid-level reagent in ultimately creating Tuning Orbs and Voidbent Ingots. Given their elemental affinity, you'll also need them in the crafting of Ice Gauntlet weapons.
The rare item Spinefish Fins is also used in high-level Arcana concoctions.
There's no tool requirements for gathering Floating Spinefish, but you'll need Harvesting Skill Lv. 175 to be able to track them.
The best locations to farm Floating Spinefish in New World
These are the clusters we think are best for power-farming Floating Spinefish.
Eternal Pool - Reekwater
The first great farming location is in the north of Reekwater, surrounding the Eternal Pool. This makes sense, given the Floating Spinefish's affinity with water.
Head northeast from the settlement to Glimmerfen for the first cluster, then to the Eternal Pool itself for the second.
Siren's Stand - Reekwater
The second cluster in this region is found in the waters between Scavenger's Shore and Siren's Stand, in the south of the territory.
Ebonscale Reach
There's quite a few nodes between the Fire Shrine and Palewind Terrace in Ebonscale Reach, although nodes are fairly spaced out.
However, it's a better location than having to head into the Shattered Mountain.
Edengrove
There's loads of nodes in the Spriggan Swamp area of Edengrove. Fast travel into the Gatherer's Road shrine and head south into the swamp, towards Arum.
